The cloth
Fabric first, always
Every Kgarebe piece begins with the cloth: hand-dyed bogolan from Mali, raffia kuba from the Kasai, printed leteise from the south, and hand-woven asooke from Yorubaland. We cut sparingly, so no two runs are ever quite the same.

Beyond the archive, the studio takes on a small number of bespoke commissions each month, including bridal, couples' outfits, and one-off occasion pieces. Choose a fabric from our table or bring your own heirloom cloth and we'll cut around it.
